Leila Niemela

Leila Niemela

Associate Dietitian

Leila loves spending time with clients in a one-on- one setting, uncovering the root cause
of dietary related health concerns. Her areas of interest include digestive issues, including Irritable
Bowel Syndrome and Food Intolerance, Food Allergies, Weight Concerns,  Body Image,
Chronic Dieting, Weight Cycling, Disordered Eating and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

Non-Diet Dietitians

Diets almost always fail yet the diet industry blames the individual. This leads to guilt, shame and a reduction in self-care behaviours. We won’t just give your patients another diet or ask them to “try harder”. We advocate for a complete paradigm shift where patients are enabled to pursue health-promoting behaviours for the long term, acting from a place of self-acceptance, self-care and self-compassion.

Client-Centred Care

We sit side by side with our clients, on their team. We help them find their motivation, work through their priorities and barriers, and provide compassionate, individualised, client-centred care. “One size fits all” nutrition counselling is ineffective in eliciting sustainable change.   We work hard to empower our clients to set and achieve their health goals.

Collaborative Teamwork

All our dietitans collaborate through formal supervision, ongoing professional development and membership of relevant professional networks. Patients get the benefits of continuity of care by seeing a single therapist in a private setting, but without missing out on the benefit of seeing a dietitian who is well supervised, connected and part of a team.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Choose Nutrition bulk bill?

Unfortunately, due to low Medicare rebates, Bulk Billing is unfeasible for a practice of Choose Nutrition’s quality and level of service. We do accept patients on Chronic Disease Management Plans, however a gap fee is still payable. Our fees enable us to ensure that the care your patients receive at Choose Nutrition is of the highest standard.

If prior financial authorisation is granted, Gold Card DVA clients are seen without a gap fee being charged and we have limited concession sessions available on request.

Non concession rates are $150 for a 60 minute initial assessment (including summary report) and $130 for follow up appointments (55 minutes).
